This is a very interesting point, as Xanthos explains that many people from ethnic minorities are differently perceived to their white counterparts in the workplace and this difference in perception is invariably a negative and “illiberal” judgement, leading to workplace discrimination. Xanthos uses the example of a white employee who is direct in their speech as being perceived as assertive while a black employee with the same characteristic is perceived as being aggressive.
